Any ideas for low maintence long straight hair?

I have long straight hair (a few inches above my elbow) that is currently just parted on the side (I have NO bangs). I normally let my hair air-dry, or if I'm in a hurry blow dry it. I'm pretty much in the dark on what kind of hair style (still somewhat long) would look a little nicer, but not totally "out there". Any suggestions? Preffrably with pictures?

Layer the shape of your hair into a V or U shape.

Depending on the shape of your face, the shortest layer can touch your cheeks or sit just above your shoulders and the rest of the layers will follow - creating the V or U shape. This is a quick and simple solution to always having in-style hair with low maintenance.

Be sure to tell the hairstylist you only want the outsides of your hair layered, not your whole head. Sorry, no pics available but you can draw it out - that's how simple it is.

See Yahoo Avatars/Appearance/Hairstyles/... Layered Hair

It is similar to the hair described above except you can't see the longer hair that hides in back. Report It

You could always use a hair clip, and clip it up, or my favorite are chop sticks. I love chop sticks.

I used to have long beautiful hair to but mine is a little longet than yours, i might not have the information that you`re looking for but NEVER, EVER,EVER,EVER IN A MILLION YEARS CUT OFF YOUR HAIR AND LET YOUR HAIR DRESSER DO ANYTHING THAT SHE/HE WANTS. i have a really bad experience just now. she cut mine off so short. And i really have a problem with it. i cried for days because i`m really attached to my hair. so my advice is just google for it and think about it really hard about what to get as a hair style. plz, i don`t want you to end up like me sobbing about it because it really hurts... :(

something that would be low maintenance would be to get layers. layers pull your look together and make you look more polished and chic. have your stylist trim the ends too when you get your hair done so they don't feel like straw, or you can get a couple of inches cut off. i would recommend shoulder length as it's more practical and looks healthier.

some good websites to check out the hair:

If you are not wanting to have hair that needs maintenance then you might keep it like you have it.
